Vote for Integrity This Tuesday

Fellow Winter Park Residents,

Please share this with friends and neighbors.

My strong recommendation is that this coming Tuesday, Winter Park voters elect Jeffrey Blydenburgh and Carl Creasman, two people I know to be capable and honest.

Commission member Todd Weaver and commission candidate Marty Sullivan have been working outside the Florida Sunshine law to undermine commission decisions. Weaver has stonewalled numerous requests for public records of his communications with Sullivan and others in violation of the law. The Sunshine law makes providing access to public records a duty of public service in all Florida counties and municipalities.

This violation is documented in a formal complaint filed with the Orange Country Circuit Court by Winter Park by resident Frank Hamner. The complaint includes communications from Weaver about city business not provided by Weaver in response to repeated requests, making it clear such communications exist but have been intentionally withheld.

Weaver has formally endorsed Sullivan. We know from private Weaver communications that have come from third parties, that should have been made public under the law, that Weaver was working with Sullivan and others trying to delay or reverse an initial commission approval of a Comprehensive Plan change in January 2020. No harm in that, but what is Weaver hiding and what other plans have been made with Sullivan unknown to the voters? It is wrong that Weaver has been plotting behind the backs of Winter Park voters with Sullivan and others, and that Weaver has failed to provide communications in violation of Florida law.

My own experience with Todd Weaver is highly consistent with the behavior documented in the complaint linked above. Weaver danced around his illegal status as an Air BNB Superhost calling it “an honest mistake” and even acknowledged to me that he intentionally lied to the voters in last year’s election, noting “it’s politics.” Sullivan should have distanced himself from Weaver and we deserve better.

Our city needs people of proven integrity on the city commission. Blydenburgh and Creasman are such people.

Sincerely, Pete Weldon

Jeffrey is a doer and not a talker. His list of public service, voluntary endeavors is very impressive. Carl is a breath of fresh air. He keeps the focus on people….not personal promotion.

I have a golf friend who wears a hat that says “You Matter”. Carl and Jeffrey endorse that concept.
