Did you know you pay more property taxes to Orange County than you do to the City of Winter Park? Guess what? That money does almost nothing that represents your interests. We get the dog catcher and repair of county roads. Your kids might occasionally use an Orange County park. That’s about it. Winter Park property taxes do the heavy lifting of providing our public safety, parks, and local road maintenance. So, why are we paying so much to Orange County?
Did you know Orange County property taxes increased 132% between 2014 and 2024 while its population grew only 61% (see this link). Cumulative inflation was 33%.
Orange County governance suffers from the same spending addiction as Winter Park. That’s where Chris Messina comes in. He is a successful entrepreneur with real leadership experience who knows how to focus on priorities and spend our money efficiently. Chris is our best hope for getting county taxes and spending under control.
